In Stock. "The Pavane for a Dead Princess" is considered to be one of Ravel's most popular works. The solemn and stately court dance strutting along in an even pulse turns into a melancholic, yet not sombre dirge. The arrangement on hand is in line with the orchestral version written by Ravel himself in 1910 and constitutes part of the series Ravel for Saxophone Quartet including publications of, among others, "Ma Mère L'Oye" (Mother Goose), "Trois Chansons" (Three Songs), and "Le Tombeau de Couperin."

This is a journey through four styles of music: funk, jazz, klezmer, and tango. The jazz style is a breezy West-Coast jazz waltz and the klezmer music is an arrangement of Abraham Goldfaden's 1880 Jewish lullaby, "Rozhinkes Mit Madlen" (Raisins With Almonds). Titles: Funky * Jazz Waltz * Klez "Rozhinkes mit Mandlen" * Tango.

This piece consists of two themes to be played once in unison, then in several voices, and of two interludes providing the musical transition between themes. Rhythmic accuracy is essential for a convincing performance. The piece should be played as fast and hot as possible.

This beautiful addition to the saxophone quartet repertoire is taken from Johann Christian Bach's set of Six Quartettos for a German flute, violin, tenor, and violincello. J.C. Bach was the youngest of Johann Sebastian's sons and is noted for influencing the concerto style of Mozart.
Bach's quartet for oboe and strings is one of his most popular pieces (it is part of almost every oboist's repertoire), and lends itself beautifully to this setting for SATB saxophone quartet.
At the age of 14, Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy wrote the string quartet this arrangement is based on. Youthful carefreeness and early artistic maturity combine into a varied musical experience. From the buoyant allegro of the first movement to the complex double fugue of the finale---this piece is a real pleasure to both performers and audience alike. Arranged for saxophone quartet (SATB).
This fanciful jaunt through one of the classical repertoire's most beloved masterpieces starts in a doo-wop style and ends with a reggae feel without sacrificing the beauty and elegance of the original. Playable by junior high groups, it is also perfect as a light piece for professional players.
