In Stock. This incredibly famous Trumpet Voluntary (often attributed to Henry Purcell) is one of the most often requested wedding pieces of all times. This arrangement features a trumpet duo (or optional solo) and band. The band parts are very reasonable and the solo parts could be performed by members of the ensemble or could feature guest soloists such as an older student or even the conductor! The popularity of this melody is sure to win over audiences and it gives an opportunity to show off the talents of a pair of students or other guest soloists.
Mahler is regarded as one of the greatest composers of all time. There are very few arrangements of his brilliant music so this arrangement for band of his first symphony is quite significant. The melodic material flows all through the ensemble and each section is featured at some point. There is even a significant section in the middle of the work that is a tuba section solo! An exciting piece from beginning to end.
Another exciting composition by an exciting Canadian composer. Donald Coakley wrote Cantos in the 1970s and has now corrected previous errors in print and altered some sections. The title Cantos derives from that form of poetry in which a poem, in many cases epic in nature, consists of many short verses. The four movements are very short and contain interesting material for all players. Originally conceived as a piece for wind ensemble, this piece would work well in either a wind ensemble or concert band setting.
