In Stock. This piece by Jeff Smallman shows off his ability to write interesting and musical parts for young musicians. Your students will come into band class asking to play Coming Home every day. The driving bass line combined with fun and interesting melodic material make this a great piece for young band. It is a piece that can be learned in a short period of time and then catchy tune will be enjoyed by both players and audiences.
A terrific fanfare opening sets the tone for this short but rhythmically interesting original band composition. Colourful percussion adds to the majesty of the wind parts. The brass carry the majority of the melodic material with flourishes from the upper woodwinds. This is another creative Canadian work that is not a "typical band" piece but a unique and exciting addition to the repertoire.
This set of short pieces depicts events that occur annually at fairs all across North America. Ferris wheels, cotton candy, and a fanfare to open the fair are all included. Unique to this short suite is Old McDonald's Barn, a popular viewing event with children found at the Markham Fair. In this movement, animal noises are emulated within the group. This work is not too difficult and is very interesting and fun for all players. Every section in the band is featured and gets a chance to perform some melodic material.
