In Stock. With plungers close at hand and an improvised second trombone solo, this swingin' version of the old favorite, "Little Brown Jug," yields best results when played with rhythmic precision and careful interpretation of articulations.

Atonement commemorates the holiest day of the year in the Jewish faith, called Yom Kippur. On that day an individual repents for transgressions which may have occurred during the past year. Fasting and prayer are the activities which begin at sundown with the chanting of Kol Nidre and end twenty four hours later. Part of the piece quotes the beginning strains of "Hatikvah," the Israeli national anthem. It is adaptable to any solo instrument. Solo parts are included for C concert, B-flat, E-flat, and bass clef instruments.

Ode for Leo is based on Steven Foster's "Beautiful Dreamer." Using the melody as a framework, this tonal piece spotlights the wonderful agility of the solo cello throughout its extraordinary range. Compositional devices used include question and answer, fugal type dialogue, and an ostinato by both the cello and solo instrument. The feeling evoked should be emotional, but not sentimental.
"South Africa" was originally written to feature the texture of the soprano saxophone with viola, the performance can be adapted to other instruments as indicated on the score or others within the written range. Although the piece is not specifically influenced by African music, it is dedicated to Nelson Mandela upon his release from prison. The writing alternates between counter and synchronized lines---the same is true for other pairings such as dissonance/consonance, changing tempos, and dynamics. The challenge is to get the piece to flow through these many shifts of texture. Towards the conclusion there is some space (optional) for improvising using the suggested written notes and intervals as the source material for both instruments.
Nocturne & Steam Train is a two-movement work by Greg Yasinitsky. The first movement, "Nocturne," is a passionate, lyrical, dark ena expressive statement, and the second movement, "Steam Train," is a spirited and highly rhythmic finale. This jazz-tinged work is ideal for recital, jury, or solo contest performances.
