As an alternative to the new book and CD, we have now this package which include the CD and an informational DVD inside the front cover. The DVDs features live musicians that take the student through the first basic lessons of the book - setting up the instrument, holding & playing the instrument, beginning to read music, and your first few songs. Many students may also enjoy the novelty of the musicians' British accents!
About this series: Since they first appeared in the 1930's, the concise, clear content of the best-selling A Tune a Day series has revolutionized music-making in the classroom and the home. Now for the first time, C. Paul Herfurth's original books have been completely rewritten with new music and the latest in instrumental technique for a new generation of musicians.
While keeping the simple concept - each lesson spells out clear objectives (labeled 'goals' in the new edition) and is reinforced by several new tunes to play - the "New Tune a Day" books have modernized the most common complaints about the old editions - with new, clear photographs demonstrating techniques; clearly engraved, larger and easier-to-read musical examples; and a detachable fingering chart for each instrument. Each book begins with instructions on assembling the instrument and taking care of it, with numerous photos to help student and parent alike!
The new 'tunes' cover a variety of styles, though mainly classical and folk tunes that students will easily recognize. Duets and rounds are also included. In addition, several of the new books are written to allow use together with another book, for violinists and cellists (for example) learning together. Tests are included to check progress and comprehension.
Finally - an audio CD is included with each book: with both performance tracks and backing tracks (as well as a tuning note, and a special 'virtuoso performance!'). Here is a listing of related products.
