About the Tune a Day Performance Pieces books: The newly-created "A Tune a Day: Performance Pieces" series features books for seven different instruments, each including the same selection of over sixty songs in clear, easy-to-read arrangements with chord symbols (for accompaniment on piano or guitar.) The contents are drawn from a wide variety of sources:Movie & TV themes (Jurassic Park, Blackadder), Light classics (Swan Lake, Aida, In the Hall of the Mountain King, Brahms' Lullaby, etc.), Jazz standards (Satin Doll, Perdido, Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend, etc.), Folk songs (Turkey in the Straw, My Bonnie, Camptown Races, La Cucaracha, Mexican Hat Dance, etc.), Spirituals (Amazing Grace, Deep River, Shenandoah), Each book comes with a playalong CD with backing tracks for every song. The songs are arranged at a late beginner/intermediate level (no sixteenth notes!), with perhaps the biggest challenges being the 'swing feel' on the jazz numbers.
