This laid-back arrangement of Jerome Kern's Katy-Did is great for establishing an easy groove. Some optional plunger work for the trumpets can really add to the style. Ideal for introducing the band to some more complex harmonies while staying well within the abilities of your beginning jazz ensemble. A great arrangement!
About the FJH Beginning Jazz Ensemble (Grades 1 – 1.5): Appropriate for first-year jazz ensembles. Playable with as few as 3 saxes, 2 trumpets, 1 trombone, and rhythm section. Pieces consist mostly of ensemble writing. Written solos are provided along with suggested parts for rhythm section and drum set. Guitar chord guide included.
